Středisko Cedefop jako agentura Evropské unie má vlastní právní subjektivitu a může uzavírat smluvní vztahy s osobami, společnostmi i jinými právními subjekty. Vztahují se na něj proto ustanovení finančního nařízení pro souhrnný rozpočet Unie, finančního nařízení střediska Cedefop a příslušných směrnic EU o zadávání veřejných zakázek a uzavírání grantových dohod a musí při své činnosti uplatňovat základní zásady transparentnosti, rovného zacházení a zákazu diskriminace, co nejširší hospodářské soutěže, proporcionality a řádného finančního řízení.
