Impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on in-work learning of EU enterprises

The aim of this contract is to improve understanding of the (causal) impact of advancing digital technologies, with specific focus on artificial intelligence (AI), on changing skill needs and the implications for in-work learning within EU enterprises. This will be accomplished by means of gathering information via extensive case studies of EU enterprises, in particular at least 30 case studies in 5 EU countries. These case studies involve in-depth qualitative interviews with management, workforce and employee representatives, observational field analysis and in-company surveys. The research should enable deep and fundamental understanding of the within-firm organisational and workplace dynamics spurred by the adoption (or not) of cutting-edge AI technologies, as moderators of in-work learning. The information derived from this study should inform Cedefop’s know-how on digitalisation and the future of work and the design of suitable digital, VET and skills policies for the EU.
