Closing Conference for the European Year of Equality of Opportunities for All

The aim of the European Year of Equality of Opportunity for All is to raise peoples awareness of the right to equality of treatment and a life without discrimination, whatever their gender, racial or ethnic origin, religion or beliefs, disabilities, age or sexual orientation. The purpose is also to launch a wide-ranging debate on the benefits of equality of opportunities, as much for individuals as for the development and cohesion of European societies.

The Portuguese Presidency, working jointly with the European Commission, organizes the closing conference of the European Year, which will take stock of progress in activities undertaken during the year. The conference will attempt to draw conclusions that ensure a solid political commitment to the objectives of this European Year of Equality of Opportunity for All.
