Introduction
This Cedefop’s database presents information on how apprenticeship schemes are financed in the EU Member States. The database structures and displays information on:
- Apprenticeship scheme financing arrangements (i.e. the whole system of financing apprenticeship scheme): the sources of funding/ actors involved, the main financial flows, the level of some apprenticeship costs such as apprentice’s wages/allowances, social insurance costs, the volumes of funding.
- Financing instruments implemented to incentivise employers to provide apprenticeship places and encourage individuals to take up apprenticeship: training funds based on levies, tax incentives for companies and grants for companies and individuals. For each instrument, a detailed information is available, such as instrument’s objectives, eligible group(s), costs covered, source(s) of financing, collection and allocation mechanisms, volumes of funding, number of beneficiaries (where data available).
Countries covered: EU Member States for which apprenticeship schemes have been identified.
Reference period: 2016 - 2017.
