The electronic portfolio, or ePortfolio, is the technology which experienced the fastest development in the world of education and training during these last years. Already used in many spheres of activities in order to accompany the people, the groups or the organizations in the validation of the assets like in the recognition of competences and the planning of the careers and the trainings, several countries and states (in particular Austria, Wales, England, Minnesota and Victoria) already integrated it into their strategy of training for the 21st century.
The conference of Quebec aims at exploring the ways of putting the electronic portfolio at the service of a humanistic vision of the construction of a company and an economy of knowledge. For Guy Fortier, joint originator of this event, "this first French-speaking conference is a single opportunity to explore how, beyond technological dimension, the electronic portfolio becomes a tool of transformation of our practices by giving us the capacity to be centred finally on the needs for the person and not on the only institutions" .
