Thessaloniki Deputy Mayor for Urban Resilience and Development Planning Lina Liakou visited Cedefop on 13 September and presented the Municipality’s ongoing work on the city’s 2030 resilience strategy to Cedefop Director James Calleja and senior staff.

Mr Calleja offered to share Cedefop data and expertise on some of the strategy actions, in particular concerning the identification of skills needs and supply and qualifications mapping, and to provide Cedefop’s meeting facilities to the Municipality.

Ms Liakou, who was accompanied by consultant Aphrodite Bouikidis, said that this could help ‘create a momentum’ for the Municipality’s efforts to bring together local actors to better assess and value the human talent available in the city.

Other suggestions made by Cedefop included sharing contacts with Thessaloniki-based researchers and professors and pooling information on cooperation with third parties such as labour market and education and training actors, UNHCR and other organisations.
