Curricula and didactic materials have significant impact on the quality of teaching and learning. Their modernisation is an important challenge for the coming years.
Most of the didactic materials used in Luxembourg are produced in foreign publishing houses and are only sporadically adjusted to the national context and demands. This also influences costs and effectiveness of education and training. Addressing this challenge has led to the decision to set up the Luxembourg Centre for Educational Studies (LCES) in 2016.
LCES will set up a national publishing house responsible for developing didactic materials and a centre of expertise for curricula development. In collaboration with the Luxembourg Centre for Educational Testing (LUCET), LCES will also support schools in implementing the changes.
