The President of the European Economic and Social Committee Mario Sepi has decided that the 2010 Biennale Conference, to be held in Florence on 20-22 May,  should address the issue of education a s a fundamental tool for combating social exclusion.  More than a quarter of Europeans are affected by social exclusion. Its causes are wide and varied and include poverty, disability, membership of an ethnic minority, difficulties in cultural integration, and job insecurity. 

 

To this end, the EESC has invited leading European personalities and civil society organisations to debate the links between education and all kinds of social exclusion.. Cedefop is represented by the Director, Aviana Bulgarelli.
