Conference on the European Charter for Small Enterprises
Luxemburg, 15-16 June 2005

Issues to make life of small enterprises easier and to boost economic activity of SMEs were discussed at a Conference on the European Charter for Small Enterprises held by the Commission together with the Luxemburg Presidency in Luxemburg on 15 and 16 June. On the agenda were education for entrepreneurship, better regulation, especially bankruptcy law and impact assessment, and skills shortages, notably measures to overcome the lack of skilled technicians and engineers. The Charter process benchmarks progress by Member States in improving the environment for SMEs and facilitates the exchange of good practices.
