The aim of this event is to provide policymakers and stakeholders with an opportunity to reflect on how qualifications and skills can be made more portable across borders. In particular, it will explore developments connected to digital tools (qualifications databases and digital credentials) as well as recognition and validation of foreign VET qualifications
The European Commission’s recent Skills Portability Initiative places renewed emphasis on making qualifications and their learning outcomes easier to understand, compare, verify and recognise across borders. Delivering on this ambition requires accessible and trusted information, connected digital infrastructure and recognition arrangements that support people’s learning and employment pathways.
This online event will examine developments in digital tools, with a particular focus on qualifications databases and digital credentials, across education and training systems. It will provide insights into national developments and how these tools can enhance transparency, trust and comparability, while reflecting on what is needed to strengthen interoperability and uptake.
The online event will also address the recognition and validation of foreign vocational education and training (VET) qualifications. It will examine how these processes are organised to support access to further learning and employment, and the challenges involved in aligning different recognition and validation purposes, arrangements and outcomes. In the webinar, policymakers, qualifications and recognition bodies, education and training providers, and labour market stakeholders will have the opportunity to reflect on the Skills Portability Initiative and its implications.
The event will draw on recent Cedefop research, including data collected through its ReferNet network and findings from the following publications:
