Annual Report 2006 on the European Communitys Development Policy

The European Union is the worlds largest provider of development assistance, the main trading partner of developing countries, and a key actor in political dialogue. In 2005 it chose to focus on the following:

• The stabilisation and association process in the Balkans;
• Further implementation of the European Neighbourhood Policy, particularly by means of Action Plans;
• Review and scaling up of the EU contribution to the Millennium Development Goals;
• etc.
