The VET toolkit for tackling early leaving will be presented and discussed in the European Vocational Skills week VET for ALL – Skills for Life conference to take place from the 14-18 of October in Helsinki, Finland.

This session will focus on teacher and trainers in VET. They are the key to high quality learning provision for all. The reflection on the future of VET post-2020 points out that VET should be delivered by highly qualified teachers and experienced trainers who are supported through initial and continuing professional development. They should focus on learning facilitation rather than one-way teaching and embed transversal skills and competences in subject-specific curricula.

Discussion questions:

  • How can teachers and trainers be supported in their changed roles?
  • What innovative learning environments are introduced and how are they implemented?
  • How do digitalisation and innovation shape teaching and learning and how can teachers and trainers embrace these new opportunities?

This time Cedefop's VET toolkit for tackling early leaving will support the discussions on the workshop entitled: The changing role of teachers and trainers.
