An International Seminar on Regionalisation and decentralisation of education and school autonomy, organised by the Law Faculty of the University of Lisbon, Instituto Superior de Lnguas e Administrao de Lisboa, Associao Portuguesa do Direito da Educao, European Association for Education Law and Policy and CRELL - Centre for Research on Lifelong Learning will be held on 14 and 15 December at the Faculty of Law's Auditorium, University of Lisbon.
At a moment when in Portugal and in other countries the organisation of the education system is being discussed, it is also important to discuss competencies and powers that should be given to regional and local authorities, the scope of schools' and teachers' autonomy and how teaching institutions can meet the growing demands of the education community in order to guarantee not only the right to education but also a quality education.
The presence of specialists from Europe, America, Africa and Asia creates a unique opportunity for a comparative analysis of the solutions adopted by all the countries, concerning the organisation of their education systems.
