The overall objective of this study contract (project) is to explore employment effects and policy implications of the transition towards a more sustainable economy, with particular focus on renewable energy and energy efficiency policies. The primary assumption of the project is that the positive impacts of a transition towards a more sustainable economy can be maximised only by developing the skills, knowledge and competences required by resource-efficient processes and technologies, and integrating these into policy frameworks, as well as businesses' and communities' practices. Considering that the use of resources which are naturally replenished and energy conservation are essential for achieving a low-carbon, energy-secure Europe, the specific focus of the study is on renewable sources and energy efficiency policies.
