Youth unemployment in Europe has been rising at a worrying rate. As a result, measures to help young people move between education and training and the labour market have acquired urgency.

In response to this, Cedefop invited some 40 European and national decision-makers, researchers and guidance professionals to a peer-learning event, Guiding at-risk youth from learning to work (Thessaloniki, 26-27 November).

The meeting discussed measures taken across the EU and European Economic Area to prevent vulnerable young people from dropping out of education and training, and to provide them with the information, guidance and counselling they need to join the labour market.

These initiatives will be included in an upcoming Cedefop study provisionally titled Guidance for youth: education to work transitions.
