The latest Cedefop briefing note focuses on national qualifications frameworks (NQFs) in Europe and the developments in the 39 countries cooperating on the European qualifications framework (EQF).
In addition to strengthening transparency and comparability of qualifications at European level, these frameworks are now playing an increasingly important national role. NQFs in 23 European countries have reached an operational stage.
In some countries, qualifications frameworks are evolving from a tool to describe qualifications systems into a means to reform and modernise them.
Milestones achieved during 2015 give some initial indications as to the possible future role frameworks may play.
