This short description provides an overview of vocational education and training (VET) in Denmark, highlighting its structure, distinctive features, key developments and challenges. Denmark’s VET system is characterised by a strong dual approach, combining school-based education with work-based learning, and benefits from close cooperation between VET providers and social partners.
VET is offered at upper secondary and higher education levels, for young people and adults, supporting the principle of lifelong learning. Efforts to make VET attractive include well-structured apprenticeship models, flexible learning options and pathways to higher education. Denmark also integrates green and digital skills into VET curricula to align with the country’s twin transition goals and labour market needs.
