Vocational education and training (VET) systems across Europe are undergoing rapid transformation in response to changing labour market demands, digitalisation, the green transition, and evolving skill requirements.

Cedefop provides tools and information to help analyse and compare VET systems across EU Member States, Iceland, and Norway.

  • VET in Europe database provides detailed, up-to-date and easy-to-navigate online information on how VET is organised and delivered across Europe. The database covers key features of each system and includes short VET system spotlights as well as detailed information on individual VET programme types, including qualification levels, the share of work-based learning, providers, target groups and progression opportunities.

For the countries holding the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union, Cedefop prepares:

  • Short descriptions (publications) of national VET systems, providing a comprehensive overview of their key features, governance arrangements, and recent developments.
  • Spotlights on VET (publications), offering a concise snapshot of the main characteristics, priorities, and current trends of national VET systems.
  • Videos showcasing national VET systems and highlighting their distinctive features, recent reforms, and policy priorities.
