This publication maps out the early school leaving problem confronting six cities (in alphabetical order: Amsterdam, Antwerp, Dordrecht, Hamburg, Leeds and Utrecht), representing the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the UK.
The city portraits outline the authors view of the local approach taken by each of these cities. The portraits present various approaches to early school leaving/drop out. After a detailed description, a summary of the most distinctive features of each portrait is presented. In the summary a way to approach the school leaving problem is presented as well as food for future discussion on the subject.
