The role of competence and qualifications development in fostering workforce mobility

European Monitoring Centre on Change (EMCC) company network seminars and sectoral workshops bring together all actors involved in change, in particular those at company level: managers, trade unions and the workforce. The aim is to share their 'hands-on experience' from different sectors and EU countries, and to draw lessons from an in-depth exploration of the company cases presented.

The European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop) and the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound) will be organising the next company network seminar whose theme is The role of competence and qualification development in fostering workforce mobility.

The seminar will look at the need for a better recognition of qualifications across the EU, and the need for companies to invest in lifelong learning schemes for employees, to boost occupational workforce mobility in sectors and in enterprises. The event will contribute to the activities of the European Year of Workers' Mobility 2006.
