Conference on the Knowledge Based Bio-Economy

The European Commission and the UK Government will be hosting a conference on the Knowledge Based Bio-Economy. The conference aims to identify which strategic options should be taken to build a strong pillar to the Lisbon strategy by investing in a knowledge based bio-economy and making the transition to a sustainable and competitive economy. The conference will also examine the role of strategic research in securing this aim and will focus on 3 areas: Sustainable biological resources from the land, forest, or marine; Fork to farm: Food, health and well-being; Advanced genomics and biotechnology for sustainable products and processes.
