    ALMAlta

    ALMA - which stands for "Aim, Learn, Master, Achieve" - is an EU initiative, aiming at supporting young people that are not in any kind of employment, education or training (NEETs).

    The goal is to help the most disadvantaged young people (aged 18-29) integrate into society by gaining access to work or training.

    Typically, these are people who are vulnerable with regard to their chances of accessing work or training for individual or structural reasons (e.g. disability, long-term unemployment, insufficient qualifications/skills, migration background).

    This survey aims to examine the connection between happiness and work in the Belgian workplace. It identifies work happiness as a key pursuit of Gen Z and Millennial workers and tries to answer the question whether happiness is the responsibility of the employer.

    This edition of the annual Employment and Social Developments in Europe (ESDE) review examines 51 million EU residents (aged 20-64) out of employment and highlights how including groups that are under-represented in the labour market can help offset the impacts of demographic change on Europe’s workforce.

Measures are framed in accordance with the intervention’s primary objective, that is prevention, outreach and engagement, reintegration, and lowering unemployment.

    Examining international evidence on successful initiatives

    This study investigates international NEET rates and identifies successful initiatives that have helped reduce these rates. More specifically, it offers a comparative data analysis on trends in NEET rates (ages 15–24) across OECD countries between 2015 and 2023, and draws on case studies from Australia, Denmark, France, and the Netherlands.

    Sindbad is a 12-month mentoring programme that builds strong relationships between young people from different backgrounds, strengthening mentors’ leadership skills, and offering structured, reflective support to mentees. It focuses on the critical transition from lower secondary education to apprenticeships or further schooling and intervenes at an early stage to prevent dropouts and subsequent unemployment.
