Today, Vocational & Technical Education (VTE) faces many challenges, opportunities and new possibilities as a result of rapid changes in the economy, society, industry and the environment. This has raised important issues such as:
  • How can VTE position itself to meet the challenges resulting from a changing global landscape, while capitalising on new opportunities created?
  • How can VTE systems can remain effective through adopting business models of excellence and quality?
  • How can the delivery of VTE be transformed with the harnessing of new technologies, including IT?
  • How can countries reposition their VTE systems to take advantage of industry collaborations and remain relavant to the skilled manpower needs of the changing global economy?

These are some of the areas that will be addressed at the first International Conference on Vocational and Technical Education, organised by the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore.

This inaugural Conference will offer policy-makers and practitioners around the world a great opportunity to listen to renowned VTE experts from Singapore, USA, UK, the Netherlands and Germany share their experiences, reflections and recommendations for transforming VTE to be relevant, responsive and ready for a dynamic global landscape.
