The EUs Sustainable Development Strategy aims to bring about a high level of environmental protection, social equity and cohesion, economic prosperity and active promotion of sustainable development worldwide.

The 2005 Strategy focuses its actions on the key challenges of Climate Change and clean energy; Public Health threats; Social exclusion, Demography and Migration; Management of Natural Resources; Sustainable Transport and Global Poverty and Development.
