The Roadmap for Equality between Women and Men has given new impetus to Community policy in this area. The Commission follows up the achievements and forecasts for measures under the Roadmap in a detailed annual work programme, in which it is noted that substantial progress has been made in terms of gender mainstreaming in EU policies, especially in the fields identified as priorities in the Roadmap.
