The aim of the 4th Continuing Vocational Training Survey (CVTS4) is to provide targeted data for policy-makers on emerging policy needs. Researchers are in fact able to provide in-depth data analyses on the basis of the survey, but there is considerable scope for better and more sophisticated use of such analyses by policy-makers. This was one of the conclusions of the preparatory workshop for CVTS4, held at Cedefop on 29-30 June 2009. In addition, the workshop found that national social partner organisations must be involved at an earlier stage of the survey. Using new media for data collection might be one of the ways to speed up the entire process.

CVTS, the only international survey that provides information on companies training policy, is carried out every 5 years by Eurostat and National Statistical Offices. The 4th survey is scheduled to be implemented in 2011.
