A 2nd Workshop of the project Sprinter Social partner role indicating training needs for European SME was organised in Athens on the 21st July 2006 as one of its planned activities. The project has been granted by the European Commission (DG Employment-Adaptability, Social Dialogue and Social Rights) in the framework of its 2005 awards.

The main contribution of Cedefop in the workshop was delivering a presentation related to the participation of social partners in VET in Europe. The title of speech is: Social Partners: the role in governance and monitoring VET systems.

The general purpose of the project is detecting best practices of training in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs)s promoted by social partners organisations on the methodological basis of a chosen sample composed by different European countries.

In addition other phases comprises different actions such as the establishment of a Network of Expert (NE) that develops National Vocational Training Practices in these countries; the realisation of a survey in the project countries in order to define these national practices and to produce a methodology which identifies effective indicators for Social Partners best practices in developing practices in VET for SMEs.
