Vocational education and training in France: short description

Vocational training has been considered an issue of major importance in France since the Middle Ages, and the right to education and training was included in the countrys constitution.

The period since 2000 has seen major reforms to the French vocational training system, including the introduction of a Certification Register in 2002 and the transfer to the regions of all responsibility for vocational training in 2004.  Further reforms are due to be implemented in 2009.
