The Commission has just adopted a working document as a basis for consultation on the EU 2020 Strategy, announced in President Barroso's political guidelines as the follow up to the Lisbon Strategy.
The Strategy aims to entrench recovery and tackle unemployment in the immediate future and to ensure a more competitive, more sustainable and fairer economy in the longer-term.
The consultation paper will also cover the governance and implementation of the EU 2020 Strategy at European and national level.
