Description

This article explores the main reasons for dropping out of Spanish Intermediate Vocational Education. It links the prevalence of early leaving of VET to personal, family and financial sociodemographic characteristics, as well as academic background. The study was carried out in a Mediterranean region (Mallorca) which has the highest levels of school dropout in Spain. Results show that the most important reasons for dropping out are finding a job or wanting to find one, obtaining negative results or the decision to pursue other courses.
