Description
This report starts on the premise that the global labour market outlook for young people has improved over the last four years. However, the report warns that the number of young people not in employment, education or training (NEET) remains concerning. While the post-COVID 19 pandemic employment recovery is overall positive, young people in certain regions as well as young women remain disadvantaged. Generally speaking, young men have benefited more from the labour market recovery than their female counterparts. This is highlighted in the fact that the global youth NEET rate of women is double that of young men (at 28.1 per cent and 13.1 per cent, respectively) in 2023. The report furthermore reveals that a continuous elevated NEET rate is a source of growing anxiety among young people.
