The main part of the agenda will be dedicated to the issues set by the European Commission. The Austrian contribution to the meeting will focus on quality assurance in VET.

Objectives
to focus on a pedagogical approach to quality assurance in VET by presenting the results of a study on optimising the cooperation between Berufsschulen (part-time vocational schools for apprentices) and enterprises training apprentices

QIBB the German acronym for quality in VET is considered an umbrella for quality initiatives within Austrian VET schools and colleges. It constitutes a common framework for a quality network that covers all types and sectors of VET schools and colleges. QIBB meets the requirements of the common quality assurance framework in VET (CQAF Common Quality Assurance Framework) developed at European level in line with the Copenhagen Process. Pilot projects carried out in 2005/06 form the starting point for its implementation.

Study on optimising the cooperation between Berufsschulen (part-time vocational schools for apprentices) and enterprises training apprentices.

This study focuses on the expectations and experiences both parties involved in apprenticeship training have in terms of
communication and cooperation opportunities
tuition at Berufsschulen (enterprises views and expectations; schools perception of the interest demonstrated by the enterprises).

Important issues examined in the study:
- What kind of experiences do both parties have?
- What type of cooperation is in place and when and how does it become evident?
- Which content and forms of school-based training are enterprises particularly interested in?

This study is meant to contribute to quality assurance in apprenticeship training (the dual system) by reinforcing mutual trust among the training partners. Mutual trust makes defining and agreeing upon common objectives for apprenticeship and the quality of training more effective.
