Description

This study examines student dropout from upper secondary vocational schools in the Czech Republic through interviews with school-based career counsellors. It finds that, despite limited national policy support, many schools have developed their own mechanisms to identify at-risk students, prevent disengagement and intervene early. Career counsellors play a central role by coordinating support, working closely with teachers and parents, and guiding students’ professional development. Overall, the research shows that a comprehensive, school-level approach can help reduce the risk of early leaving.
