Description
The report reveals that while educational attainment and labour market outcomes have improved since 2016 for NEETs, this progress does not necessarily translate to better learning outcomes.
Notably, on average girls outperform boys in education, yet women still face significant disadvantages in the labour market, including lower employment rates and earnings. This publication includes a chapter on young people’s transitions from education to the job market which are influenced by various factors, including the type and duration of their education, skills acquired, market conditions, and the overall economy. For many students, the transition from lower to upper secondary education involves choosing between general education and vocational education and training (VET), with the latter facilitating smoother school-to-work transitions and acting as a safety net to prevent dropouts. The report finds that foreign-born individuals face more challenges in this transition compared to native-born individuals, with their labour-market outcomes significantly affected by the age at which they migrated to the host country.
