Street and related sales and service workers

Street services workers sell goods (excluding food) and provide a variety of services on streets and in other public places such as stations. For people to competently undertake the tasks required in this occupation, they usually need to have completed primary education or the first stage of basic education. A short period of on-the-job training may be required for some jobs. The tasks include: buying or making various items for sale; loading and unloading items for sale; approaching people on the street to offer goods or services; cleaning and polishing shoes; cleaning and polishing car windows; running errands; handing out leaflets and free newspapers; etc. Examples of jobs undertaken by those in this occupation include: newspaper vendor, errand boy, shoe-polisher, etc.
