This tripartite social summit is an opportunity to get the opinions of the social partners on two of the subjects that are going to dominate the next European Council.
  • the financial crisis and the economic slowdown
  • energy and climate change and, in particular, their implications for employment
ETUC reiterated proposals that have already been addressed to the Council and the Commission, notably: the presentation of a White paper on climate change, skills and jobs in 2009 putting forward concrete proposals with a view to promoting a coordinated action of the Member States for new skills training in sectors such as energy efficiency and renewable energy;
