Students throughout Poland participated in the contest, submitting 43 videos. The level of the entries made a real challenge of the jury’s final selection of winners:
- Marcin Szreder for My passion, a dynamic and witty look at one person’s effort to choose a profession. Szreder won first prize for the video storyline, and his ease and imagination in editing the film. He studies at the complex of vocational and general education schools in Kartuzy.
- Jakub Półgęska, Karol Łaszanowski and Cezary Wasia for The power of information. The students from the third vocational upper secondary school of electronics in Warsaw won the second prize for their unique approach in presenting the IT profession, and for the well-thought-out and well-arranged storyline.
- Damian Tomaszewski, Daniel Gaszczyk, Bartosz Bugajak, Łukasz Chorbiński and Juliusz Sochacki, for Daily life in a vocational school, an attractive presentation of a typical day at a vocational school. They won the third place, representing the second post-lower secondary school in Gniezno.
- Emilia Bereszyńska, Maciej Błasik, Tadeusz Czarnecki, Klaudia Dłużewicz, Monika Kordzińska, Kamil Markwat, Weronika Wiktor, Jakub Sierański, and Krzysztof Welik, received an honourable mention for Auxiliary hotel service worker – making a wise choice, an enthusiastic approach to the advantages of entering the hotel services professions. The team are third year students at the first stage sectoral school of special schools complex No 102 in Poznań.
The awards were given by Marzena Machałek, Deputy Minister for national education, Piotr Mikiewicz, Deputy Director of the Educational Research Institute of Research and Implementation, and Agnieszka Chłoń-Domińczak, ReferNet project leader. The Deputy Minister Marzena Machałek remarked that ‘these videos are one of the best ways to promote vocational education in the country’. Piotr Mikiewicz stated that ‘vocational education is changing, and those present at the gala are both witnesses and creators of this change’. All the winners and contestants were warmly congratulated.
