More than 1 300 primary and lower secondary education learners participated in the 2nd Pancyprian robotics week, which was successfully organised in the second week of May by the Department of Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training in cooperation with the enterprise ENGINO®.

The event is part of initiatives organised by the education ministry to enhance VET attractiveness among primary and lower secondary education learners, who also had the chance to liaise with enterprises during the event. Work experiences were shared with the young learners, increasing their knowledge of new technologies and the business world.

The event took place on the premises of the first Technical and vocational school of education and training in Nicosia. Learners attended presentations on educational robotics and on how robotics relate with training programmes in upper secondary VET. They also had an opportunity to attend workshops in teams and assemble and programme simple robots. After the workshops, teams demonstrated their skills in a competition.

An open day was also organised for the wider public. Visitors attended a robotics exhibition by upper secondary VET learners and received information on educational robotics.
