A new electronic platform for data collection on transition and employability of IVET and CVET graduates was recently developed by the department of Secondary Technical and Vocational Education and Training (Cyprus’ education ministry).

The platform, ‘Communication Network with Employers for Technical Occupations’ (Δίκτυο Επικοινωνίας με Εργοδότες για Τεχνικά Επαγγέλματα – ΔΕΕΤΕ), became operational in April 2019. Its aim is to assist the communication between VET graduates and potential employers. The tool supports integration of graduates into the labour market and makes hiring the right staff easier for employers.

Graduates of secondary and post-secondary schools (higher VET) can create a personal online profile, while employers can create a corporate, company profile. Graduates must contact the administration office of the school they graduated from to get a registration code for the platform. Employers who have their information validated by the platform administrator may also register on the platform.

Using their personal profile, VET graduates can upload information about their qualifications, knowledge and skills, and their field of interest – in other words, create an online resume. They can also search for employment opportunities, communicate with other network members and have access to platform announcements. Using the platform can improve their career prospects.

Employers may upload vacancies and required qualifications to recruit properly qualified personnel. They may also use pre-set criteria in their search for jobseeking VET graduates.

The platform was funded by the EU Erasmus+ Programme.
