On 2 October 2015, the Ministry of Education and Employment of Malta hosted the launch of the Cedefop Thematic Country Review (TCR) on apprenticeships in Malta.

The main objective of the TCR review was to develop recommendations for structural and systems reform leading to high-quality apprenticeship programmes as part of formal education and training. The review was developed through a participatory approach and largely based on information and opinions collected from stakeholders and citizens concerned.

For Cedefop the event was the occasion to present the final outcomes of the review and contribute to the discussion. Cedefop Director James Calleja, Antonio Ranieri and Ramona David actively participated to the event.

*** Cedefop conducts thematic country reviews on apprenticeships (TCR) in selected volunteer countries and looks at national developments on apprenticeships, while considering contextual factors. The project started in 2014 as a pilot for two countries who had expressed interest, Malta and Lithuania, and has been extended to other interested countries (for 2015-16 it is Italy, Greece and Slovenia). The Italian review was launched at an event hosted by the Ministry of Employment in Rome on 14 October.
