The Department of Applied Pedagogy and Educational Psychology of the Balearic Islands University organised an international workshop to present and discuss with regional and local stakeholders and researchers the findings of the national project "Success and dropout pathways in vocational education and training in Spain" (EDU2013-42854-R).

Dr. Irene Psifidou, Cedefop expert, gave a key note speech on “The prevention of early leaving from VET in Europe” (La prevención del abandono educativo de la FP en Europa). She presented preventive policies in Europe and analyzed their key success factors.

Cedefop also co-organised with the UIB University a working session on the dissemination and use of VET toolkit for tackling early leaving in Balearic Islands. Participants including VET providers and VET policy makers were invited to work in small teams and prepare a new tool that could become available at Cedefop toolkit. This should function as a self-reflection tool for VET providers based on structural indicators.

Dr. Irene Psifidou presented the new evaluation frameworks and tools developed by Cedefop to support policy makers and VET practitioners from member states in evaluating the impact of implemented policies and practices. Irene stressed the importance of bringing evidence on what works and why is crucial for mainstreaming successful practices from local and regional contexts to national strategies.
