The UNESCO’s AI Competency Framework for Teachers (AI CFT) offers a global vision that outlines the necessary skills and knowledge for teachers to effectively integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into their teaching practices. The framework is built on a human-centred approach, prioritising values such as inclusivity, human agency, and respect for diversity. The AI CFT is organised around five key areas: teachers' mindset, AI ethics, AI foundations, AI pedagogy, and AI for professional development. It also outlines a progression pathway for teachers to develop their AI competencies, from basic awareness to advanced application. To ensure the effective and responsible use of AI in education, the framework emphasises the need for regulations, validation mechanisms, and ongoing teacher support. By adopting the AI CFT, educators and policymakers can promote the ethical and effective use of AI in education, ultimately enhancing teaching and learning outcomes.
