Level of prioritisation between an individual’s work and personal life.
Comment
- A good work-life balance is achieved when an individual’s right to a fulfilled life inside and outside paid work is accepted and respected as the norm – to the mutual benefit of the individual, business and society;
- in 2019, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union adopted a Directive on work-life balance, to:
- support a work-life balance for parents and carers;
- encourage a more equal sharing of parental leave between men and women;
- address women’s underrepresentation in the labour market.
