Companies in the Walloon region may receive public grant to cover costs of training their employees. The amount granted to the company is EUR 10 per hour of training, with EUR 1 per hour increase if the person trained is low skilled. The maximum amount the company may receive is EUR 80 000 over a period of 2 years. Training programme should last from 6 months to 1 year.

Regional Public Employment Service (PES) Wallonia: Le Forem

The learning worker (trainee) must be a national of a Member State of the European Union or currently reside in the French speaking Walloon region and be at least 18 years old. He/she must: either have been employed for up to 12 months in the company or be employed by the company and in need of training to access new functions in the company or be an interim worker in the company with a temporary contract with the company at the time of training.

Training scheme needs to: - be minimum 6 months and maximum 1 year long, - comprise a maximum of 300 hours/per trained employee Companies applying for financial aid must retain at least 80% of their total staff over the period during which the training takes place. Education type: Upskilling (including on-the-job mentoring) depending according to activity sector

This is a flat-rate hourly intervention per employee. The hourly rate granted to the company under the scheme is EUR 10 per hour of training for all businesses, whether SMEs or not; a EUR 1 increase per hour of training is foreseen if the trainee is 'low skilled' (i.e. any worker without a diploma or certificate of higher secondary education). The same company cannot benefit from a contribution exceeding EUR 80 000 per 2-year period from the date of the signing of the agreement.
De minimis regulation is applied.Allocation: Grant calculation is based on company's annual or bi-annual training plans and invoices received by the company detailing number of hours of training delivered. Le Forem disburses 50% upon signature of the agreement with the company. The remaining 50% are disbursed upon completion of the programme. Le Forem performs checks on documents received.
