Description

The European Education and Culture Executive Agency of the European Commission has published a new set of thematic guides for teaching basic skills. These guides support the European Commission’s Basic Skills Action Plan, and aim to boost teaching and learning, support educators and enable supportive environments.

According to the guide for teaching citizenship, this kind of education helps youth understand their rights and responsibilities, act democratically and in a socially responsible way, and improve their political and social awareness.

The guide offers insights on key practices and whole-school approaches enhanced citizenship acquisition and supporting the development of civic and democratic engagement from an early age.
