Description

The report examines the teaching profession across the EU, focusing on motivation, job satisfaction, well-being, career intentions and working conditions. Based mainly on TALIS 2024 and complementary European data, it finds high professional engagement, satisfaction and participation in continuing professional development. However, administrative workload, classroom management and challenging student behaviour are linked to poorer well-being and stronger intentions to leave, while mentoring, autonomy, collaboration and supportive leadership improve satisfaction and retention. Concerns remain around younger and less experienced teachers, who report higher stress, and the ageing workforce, which raises future recruitment and replacement needs.
