Description

This policy brief explores how teacher policies can support and incentivise the effective use of digital technologies in education. It highlights the barriers teachers face in integrating digital resources, such as lack of central guidance and support, outdated professional standards, and insufficient working time arrangements. Drawing on insights from the 2022 PISA exercise and the OECD policy survey on school education in the digital age, the document discusses strategic plans, guidelines, and central supports to promote digital resource use, updates to professional standards and appraisal systems, management of teachers' workload, career structures that reward innovative teaching, and provision of technical assistance to schools.
