Short description

Employees having completed vocational qualifications can apply for this State-funded grant to finance their costs for education and training. The eligible education and training activities include all kinds of university studies. A lump-sum allowance is granted (EUR 861 per month plus a book allowance of EUR 80). No preferential treatment is applied. The scheme cannot be re-used by the same applicant.

Objective(s) and target(s)
To increase permeability between vocational and academic education and offer the opportunity for further professional development. The programme is aimed primarily at those who have gained their higher education entrance qualification without school, but through several years of experience, recognition of prior learning.

Stiftung Begabtenförderung berufliche Bildung - Gemeinnützige Gesellschaft mbH (SBB). The SBB Foundation has been commissioned and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research for the implementation of the scholarship.

Eligible persons receive monthly scholarship of 861 plus 80 book allowance. In addition, a care package for children under 10 years (EUR 150 for each child) is granted. Support is provided independently of earnings. Students in extra-occupational training receive EUR 2 700 per year.
