Operation/management

Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO) - an agency of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science - checks eligibility, pays out student finance, organises repayments of the loans and monitors the data which is sent then to the Ministry of Education.

The unconditional grant for students in vocational education and training (ISCED 3 and 4) is EUR 264,40 (in 2015 and 2016) for students not living at home and EUR 81,02 for students living at home. Students with parents with a low yearly income - up to EUR 30 000 - and not living at home get an additional grant of EUR 353,70. This additional grant diminishes with increasing parental income and becomes 0 for an income above EUR 46 000. In addition to the grant, students can take a monthly loan of EUR 176,49.
