documentation of non-formal and informal learning

Process of gathering evidence of the learning outcomes (knowledge, know-how, information, values, skills and competences) acquired by an individual in non-formal and informal learning settings, to make them visible and allow for their assessment and certification (partial or full qualification).

Documentation is the second of the four phases of validation of non-formal and informal learning:

  • identification of the learning outcomes through dialogue with the individual;
  • documentation, to make visible the individual’s learning outcomes;
  • assessment of those outcomes;
  • certification, which may lead to a partial or full qualification.
